If you’re looking to study abroad or pursue employment opportunities in an English speaking country, many universities and companies find it mandatory to clear the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. This exam testifies your listening, reading, writing, and speaking in less than three hours.
With adequate preparation or consultation from an immigration expert, you are in a better position to obtain the best possible score. As a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC), Canada Visport has listed five tips to help you pass your IELTS exam.
Tip #1: Reading
Tip #2: Writing
Divide task 1 exam question statement into parts that allow you to elaborate on each section of the statement. Similarly, divide task 2 exam questions statement into parts to structure your essay into sections where your flow of thoughts would be organized before you even start writing. You will find your thoughts come to you easily.
Tip #3: Listening
Practice, Practice, Practice! It is all about speed. If you miss a question, do not stop, you may miss two more questions afterward. Scan the complete question section and circle the keywords, in that way, when the listening section starts, you will know where the discussion is at.
Tip #4: Speaking
Relax. Your accent is not the deal-breaker here! It is how you compose your sentences and your grammar. Show the examiner that you understood the question and answer exactly what the question asked about, then elaborate. Keep the conversation going!
Tip #5: Practice
For an overall high score in your next IELTS test, make sure you allow yourself at least one month of academic practice on a weekly basis and see your results increase as you become more comfortable with the exam.
